Public Events

In addition to our regular club walks, VTMS partners with various organizations throughout the state of Vermont to hold events that are free and open to the public. Here are a list of free events for 2026:

Mushroom Walk in Norwich, VT

595 Turnpike Rd, Norwich, VT 05055

This event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 to VTMS.Join us for a mushroom walk with the Upper Valley Food Co-op at 10am at the Brookmead Conservation Area in Norwich, VT.

We will meet in the parking lot at the trailhead on Turnpike Road and will stick around for 10-15 minutes before we start walking. We will be on the trails for about 2 hours, and we will reconvene afterwards to discuss our finds and eat lunch for another hour.Please note that there are not any bathrooms, potable water or picnic tables at this location.Please bring water, lunch, bug spray, and a basket or paper bag to carry your finds. Waxed paper bags, paper egg cartons, and a pocket knife can also be helpful for collecting mushrooms. Please dress for hiking, keeping in mind that we will be walking off trails and there are ticks. Consider downloading the  iNaturalist app on your phone to help track your fungal finds.

Join us for a joint mushroom walk with the Putney Mountain Association at 10am at Putney Mountain.This location does not have bathrooms or potable water and the trails are not accessible to those with limited mobility.Please bring water, lunch, bug spray, and a basket or paper bag to carry your finds. Waxed paper bags, paper egg cartons, and a pocket knife can also be helpful for collecting mushrooms. Please dress for hiking, keeping in mind that we will be walking off trails and there are ticks. Consider downloading the iNaturalist app on your phone to help track your fungal finds.
